Kuwait Engages in 45th Arab Social Affairs Ministers’ Council in Amman

Amman: The 45th session of the Council of Arab Ministers for Social Affairs commenced in Amman, with Kuwait's Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah representing Kuwait in the assembly.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Jordan's Minister of Social Development, Wafaa Bani Mustafa, addressed the gathering, highlighting the pressing challenges faced by the Palestinian people. She emphasized the need for comprehensive social and humanitarian interventions to address these challenges effectively. Bani Mustafa urged for enhanced coordination and joint Arab cooperation to alleviate the struggles of vulnerable groups, including children, women, older persons, and persons with disabilities, while maintaining human dignity and fostering resilience and recovery in Palestine.

She pointed to the dire social and humanitarian conditions present in several Arab countries dealing with crises, conflicts, and worsening economic situations. Such conditions call for increased collaborative efforts and closer cooperation with regional and international partners. This cooperation, she mentioned, is crucial for ensuring effective social responses, reinforcing social stability, and supporting recovery and development initiatives.

Bani Mustafa expressed Jordan's anticipation for the adoption of the Amman Declaration, aiming to present it to the upcoming Arab Summit to secure political backing at the highest levels within the Arab League. This move is intended to bolster plans and programs serving Arab citizens. She also noted that the session's agenda includes items and draft resolutions that mirror Arab aspirations for sustainable development and social justice.

Additionally, Bani Mustafa advocated for the strengthening of the Arab Center for Social Policy Studies and Poverty Eradication, which is hosted by Jordan. Jordan has assumed the presidency of the 45th session, taking over from Bahrain, which led the previous session.
