Kuwait city: The State of Kuwait has underlined the significance of digital diplomacy as a foundational component of its foreign policy, which focuses on fostering international cooperation and dialogue.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Sarah Al-Hasawi, Kuwait’s Diplomatic Attache, spoke at the UN General Assembly’s Second Committee, emphasizing the necessity for a humane and equitable globalization approach in light of increasing economic, environmental, and technological challenges. She voiced concerns regarding middle-income countries, which constitute over 70 percent of the global population and are under pressure from rising debt and requirements for green transformation.
Al-Hasawi advocated for comprehensive support and reform of international financial systems to better assess poverty and national capacities beyond conventional GDP metrics. She highlighted the critical need for equitable climate finance, targeting a minimum of USD 300 billion annually for developing nations by 2035, in alignment with the Seville Commitment document.
She also highlighted the contributions of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) since 1961 and expressed pride in Kuwait hosting the Digital Cooperation Organization’s fifth session in 2025. Al-Hasawi welcomed the “Global Digital Compact,” underscoring its importance.
In her concluding remarks, Al-Hasawi stated that the measure of globalization’s success lies in its ability to generate opportunities, diminish disparities, and advance social justice, with a goal of achieving a more inclusive and cooperative global environment.
