Kuwait Education Minister Inaugurates 15th Middle East International Invention Exhibition


Kuwait City: Education Minister Jalal Al-Tabtabaei inaugurated late Sunday the 15th edition of the International Invention Exhibition in the Middle East. This event was attended by the Chairman of the Board of the Kuwait Scientific Club and Chairman of the exhibition’s Supreme Committee, Talal Jassem Al-Kharafi, alongside a number of ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions accredited to Kuwait.



According to Kuwait News Agency, Minister Al-Tabtabaei, representing His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, expressed pride in opening the exhibition, which is held under the patronage of the Crown Prince and supported by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS). The exhibition, running until February 19 at Al-Raya Hall in Courtyard Marriott Hotel, features 180 inventors from 42 countries presenting 230 inventions in scientific and technological fields.



The minister emphasized the exhibition’s status as the second largest international invention exhibition globally and the largest in the Middle East, showcasing Kuwait’s role in supporting innovation. Al-Tabtabaei recalled the exhibition’s growth from its inception, noting that it began in a small tent with 12 inventors and has since evolved into a major international event.



Al-Tabtabaei attributed this success to the support of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled, who are committed to encouraging innovative projects. He highlighted the importance of innovation for a knowledge-based economy and sustainable development, emphasizing the commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and nurturing creative minds.



Talal Jassem Al-Kharafi, Chairman of the Kuwait Scientific Club and the exhibition’s Supreme Committee, stated that the exhibition continues to expand annually, with participation from 42 countries, including first-time participants Ecuador and Nigeria. He expressed pride in the international recognition the Kuwait Scientific Club has received and highlighted the significance of the Arab League’s participation.



Secretary-General of the Kuwait Scientific Club, Ali Kazem Al-Jumaa, emphasized the exhibition’s role in creating investment opportunities for inventors, allowing them to showcase their innovations to potential investors. Al-Jumaa highlighted the exhibition’s global reputation and key objectives, including encouraging Kuwaiti inventors and strengthening collaboration between innovators and institutions.



Minister Plenipotentiary Rahab Ezzedine of the Arab League General Secretariat praised the exhibition’s organization and participation, emphasizing the support for innovation and scientific cooperation. She highlighted the Arab League’s involvement, with five organizations awarding cash prizes to inventors, and stressed the importance of supporting Arab inventors and promoting scientific research.
