Kuwait city: The Kuwait Dive Team, operating under the Environmental Voluntary Foundation (EVF), has successfully salvaged a 30-ton vessel off the coast of Al-Salmiya. The team's chief, Walid Al-Fadhel, confirmed the operation on Monday.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the 57-foot-long boat had drifted due to strong winds, posing a hazard to navigation and leaking oil into the waters near the Marine yachts harbor. The personnel involved in the operation managed to stabilize the vessel and collected some of its scattered debris in the area where yachts and boats frequently pass.
Al-Fadhel noted that the Coast Guards provided all available resources to aid in lifting the boat and its remains, in coordination with other authorities. Despite challenges such as scorching heat, strong winds, and rocky obstacles, the divers succeeded in floating and towing the boat.
Al-Fadhel emphasized the importance of precautions for sea-goers to prevent such incidents and highlighted that waste left in the sea is harmful to the environment. The Kuwaiti Diving Team has been conducting such missions since 1986.
