Kuwait Crowned Champions in Arab Wheelchair Basketball Championship

Kuwait city: Kuwait's national team has emerged victorious in the inaugural Arab Wheelchair Basketball Championship, securing a 72-68 win against Egypt in the final match held on Wednesday. The championship took place at the Kuwait Disabled Sport Club, marking a significant achievement for the host nation.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the event saw Palestine taking the third spot after overcoming Syria with a 53-39 scoreline. The final match was attended by prominent figures, including the Director General of the Public Authority for Disability, Dr. Dalal Al-Othman, Chairman of Kuwait Wheelchair Basketball Federation Shafi Al-Hajeri, and Egypt's Ambassador to Kuwait, Mohammad Abul-Wafa.

Dr. Al-Othman, in her remarks to KUNA after the game, expressed her support for the Kuwait Disabled Sport Club, emphasizing the club's role in developing the sports skills of disabled individuals. She extended her congratulations to the Kuwaiti team for claiming the title of the first Arab championship of its kind and expressed her hopes for further achievements in upcoming international events.

Al-Hajeri praised the championship for showcasing the strong determination of participants to overcome disability. He highlighted that hosting the championship underscores Kuwait's commitment to fostering closer ties among Arab nations and promoting regional sports events, especially those involving disabled athletes.

The Egyptian ambassador also congratulated the Kuwaiti team on their well-earned victory and professional performance. He expressed gratitude to Kuwait for hosting the championship and for its efforts in enhancing fraternal relations among Arab countries.
