Kuwait Civil Aviation: GCC Leaders Support Meteorology, Climate Efforts

Kuwait city: Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Civil Aviation Duaij Al-Otaibi affirmed the GCC leaders' support for regional efforts in meteorology and climate, emphasizing their role as key pillars in sustainable development and future planning. Speaking at the 17th meeting of the GCC Permanent Committee for Meteorology and Climate, Al-Otaibi said the gathering reflects the commitment to joint Gulf cooperation in realizing the aspirations of GCC leaders and citizens.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Otaibi noted that the adoption of the unified meteorology law for GCC states demonstrates this commitment and strengthens collective efforts to address growing climate challenges. He highlighted the importance of establishing an advanced regional early warning network for weather and climate hazards to enhance preparedness and protect lives and property.

GCC Secretariat's Head of Human and Environment Affairs Abdullah Al-Rubei underscored the Secretariat's efforts to coordinate among member states. He stressed the importance of unifying Gulf positions in regional and international forums on climate issues and said the meeting's agenda includes projects such as Gulf climate statistics and the "Middle East Green" initiative.
