Kuwait Celebrates Inclusion of “Diwaniya” in UNESCO Intangible Heritage List

Kuwait city: Minister of Information and Culture, and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi expressed pride on Wednesday for the inscription of "Diwaniya" on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This achievement underscores the political leadership's commitment to Kuwait's cultural advancement and dedication to preserving the national legacy, he stated in a statement to KUNA.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the minister praised the efforts of the Kuwaiti team responsible for preparing the submission, highlighting their professionalism and dedication. Their work successfully showcased Diwaniya's cultural and humanitarian significance as a social hub that exemplifies hospitality and communication to the global community.

This milestone aligns with the National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature's strategy, which aims to protect heritage, strengthen national identity, and conserve intangible cultural assets, the minister emphasized. Diwaniya is a vital part of Kuwait's rich heritage and serves as a unique model of social interaction, he elaborated.
