Kuwait Celebrates Historical Milestones Across Decades

Kuwait city: Today marks significant events in Kuwait's history, ranging from the establishment of pivotal industries to key political and educational developments.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the Kuwait Pipe Industries Company was founded with a capital of KD 750,000, focusing on manufacturing, producing, importing, maintaining, and installing various types of pipes. This foundation laid the groundwork for a vital sector in the country's industrial landscape.

In 1990, a grave political situation unfolded as Iraqi forces imposed a siege on embassies in Kuwait, attempting to force their closure and relocation to Baghdad. This siege was part of Iraq's broader invasion strategy during a turbulent period in the region.

The following year, in 1991, Kuwait celebrated a momentous occasion as Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah lit a torch to mark the beginning of the school year after the liberation of Kuwait from Iraqi occupation. During a ceremony at Bayan Palace, the Amir highlighted Iraq's attempts to dismantle Kuwait's educational institutions, turning schools into detention centers during the occupation.

In 2009, the Ministry of Public Works reported a technical failure at the Mishref water treatment facility. The incident resulted in the submergence of pumps and triggered gas emissions, highlighting challenges in maintaining essential infrastructure.

The year 2015 saw the passing of Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf, a former parliament member, at the age of 93. Al-Hajraf was a notable figure in Kuwait's political history, having served as a Member of Parliament in the first National Assembly in 1963 and in subsequent assemblies in 1967, 1971, 1975, 1981, and 1985.

Most recently, in 2022, the Ministry of Health launched the first phase of the new Al-Farwaniya Hospital, marking a significant advancement in Kuwait's healthcare infrastructure and services.
