Kuwait City: Kuwait is set to celebrate the first anniversary of His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah's appointment as Crown Prince. This event marks a significant milestone in the nation's development and diplomatic journey.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the anniversary commemorates one year since the Amiri Decree of June 1, 2024, when His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah nominated Sheikh Sabah for the role. Following the formal appointment on June 2, Sheikh Sabah pledged loyalty to the Amir and the country, vowing to serve Kuwait with dedication and uphold Islamic values and national principles.
On the day of his appointment, the Cabinet, led by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, endorsed Sheikh Sabah as Crown Prince. Over the past year, His Highness has demonstrated active leadership in national development and diplomacy, overseeing development plans, major infrastructure projects, and engaging in high-level diplomatic visits.
His international efforts included visiting Saudi Arabia to meet with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, leading Kuwait's delegation to the 79th UN General Assembly, and participating in the Summit of the Future. His Highness also represented Kuwait at various international summits, including the Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh, the COP29 Global Climate Summit in Azerbaijan, and the Arab League's emergency summit in Cairo.
In May, His Highness attended summits in Malaysia involving ASEAN, GCC, and China, followed by a visit to Japan, where he met senior officials to discuss mutual interests, resulting in an agreement to elevate bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
Throughout his career, His Highness has maintained Kuwait's diplomatic identity and emphasized Arab solidarity. His long-standing contributions have shaped Kuwait's foreign policy and approach to global and regional issues, emphasizing sovereignty, non-intervention, and international law.
Born in 1953, His Highness holds a degree in Political Science and began his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1978. He has served in various roles, including Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Minister of Social Affairs, Minister of Information, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Prime Minister, before becoming Crown Prince, marking a new chapter in his service to Kuwait.
