Kuwait Cabinet Welcomes Regional Ceasefire Agreement

Kuwait City: The Kuwaiti Cabinet on Tuesday expressed its support for a newly announced ceasefire agreement between parties in a regional conflict, urging adherence to the accord. This announcement was made during the Cabinet's regular weekly meeting at Bayan Palace, chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the Cabinet praised US President Donald Trump's role in facilitating the ceasefire, highlighting its potential to bolster diplomatic efforts and reduce regional and international tensions. The Cabinet was also briefed on a meeting chaired by His Highness the Amir and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, which included discussions on recent regional developments.

The meeting, attended by His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and the Prime Minister, aimed to assess the latest regional developments. The Cabinet received a report from Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya, who is the current chairman of the GCC ministerial council, about the 49th extraordinary foreign ministerial meeting held in Doha in support of Qatar.

The Cabinet began its session by condemning the attack on Al-Udeid Airbase in Qatar, labeling it a violation of Qatar's sovereignty and international law. Kuwait affirmed its solidarity with Qatar and its commitment to supporting measures to protect Qatar's sovereignty, security, and stability. Kuwait also reiterated its opposition to military escalation and called for peaceful and diplomatic solutions to international disputes.

Additionally, the Cabinet reviewed measures from the Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment Noura Al-Fassam regarding investment strategies by Kuwait Investment Authority and other public bodies. The Cabinet approved a draft decree-law on international judicial cooperation in criminal matters and another decree-law abolishing a housing welfare article, forwarding both to His Highness the Amir for approval.
