Kuwait Cabinet Reviews Key Developments and Future Plans

Kuwait city: The Kuwaiti Cabinet held its weekly meeting Tuesday at Bayan Palace under the chairmanship of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. Following the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Shereeda Al-Mousherji made an official statement highlighting the key discussions and decisions made during the session.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the Cabinet reviewed messages received by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah from several heads of friendly and sisterly states. The messages centered on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation across various fields. The Cabinet was also briefed on the forthcoming official visit of His Highness the Prime Minister to Cairo. The visit, scheduled between October 29 and November 1, 2025, aims to represent His Highness the Amir at the grand opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum and includes bilateral talks.

The Cabinet took note of His Highness the Amir's directive assigning His Highness the Prime Minister to represent Kuwait at the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha. The summit, set from November 4 to 6, 2025, comes upon an invitation from Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. The Cabinet expressed its anticipation for the official visit of Chinese Vice President Han Zheng to Kuwait on November 1, hoping the visit would bolster bilateral cooperation.

Ministers reviewed reports from Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Al-Salem Al-Sabah and Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan on the new developments at Kuwait International Airport. The official opening of the new air traffic control tower and third runway were noted as important advancements in the country's aviation infrastructure.

A presentation by Minister of State for Communications Omar Al-Omar on agreements with Google Cloud and Microsoft was discussed. An update from Sheikh Abdullah Sabah Al-Hamoud Al-Sabah, Head of the Supervisory Committee for the Google Strategic Agreement, on digital project implementations was also reviewed. Additionally, the Cabinet received a report from the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Nader Al-Jalal on the achievements of Abdullah Al-Salem University's Founding Board. Key milestones included the adoption of the university's organizational structure and the admission of its first student cohort.

Dr. Al-Jalal reported on the appointment of Dr. Mona Al-Ahmad as Acting President of Abdullah Al-Salem University. The Cabinet approved a draft decree-law on combating narcotics and psychotropic substances, aiming to unify legal definitions and enhance penalties for traffickers and smugglers. Furthermore, a draft decree on a memorandum of understanding between Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates for cooperation in industry and advanced technology was approved and referred to His Highness the Amir for endorsement.

The Cabinet discussed various other agenda items, approving some recommendations and referring others to specialized ministerial committees for further evaluation and action.
