Kuwait city: The Kuwait Cabinet on Tuesday praised the speech delivered by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's Representative, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. This commendation was made during the weekly Cabinet meeting led by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah at Bayan Palace.
According to Kuwait News Agency, His Highness the Crown Prince's speech at the UNGA highlighted the historical success of the United Nations, particularly the Security Council, in liberating Kuwait from the Iraqi invasion 35 years ago. He addressed the humanitarian concerns of Kuwaiti prisoners and missing persons, as well as the recovery of Kuwaiti property, including national archives. His Highness also reiterated Kuwait's commitment to the maritime navigation agreement at Khor Abdullah and the security protocol signed with Iraq in 2009.
His Highness the Crown Prince emphasized Kuwait's dedication to negotiations on maritime borders with Iraq, in line with international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) of 1982. Additionally, he reaffirmed Kuwait's commitment to enhancing Gulf cooperation and strategic partnerships during its presidency of the 45th session of the GCC Supreme Council.
The Crown Prince condemned the Israeli occupation's attack on Qatar, calling it a violation of international laws and expressing Kuwait's solidarity with Qatar. The Cabinet also praised the Amir's Representative's speech at the UN on behalf of GCC members, advocating for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and urging international responsibility to prevent further violations.
The Cabinet was informed of the Crown Prince's official visit to the UK and his meeting with Prince William, discussing bilateral relations. Domestically, the Cabinet addressed the legal status of individuals with withdrawn Kuwaiti citizenship, allowing them to continue trading at Boursa Kuwait and maintaining some rights within state agencies.
The Cabinet approved amendments to laws regarding e-sanctions and documentation, advancing the state's digital transformation efforts. It endorsed bills related to MoUs with friendly countries and reviewed developments in Kuwait's air-shipping project and energy transformation plan. The Cabinet emphasized transparency in government contracts and modernization of public tenders.
Finally, the Cabinet reviewed and approved several agenda topics, demonstrating its commitment to addressing both domestic and international matters.
