Kuwait City: Kuwait and Peru have reaffirmed their bilateral commitment to enhancing relations across economic, political, cultural, and educational fields. This commitment was detailed in a joint statement released during the official visit of Peru's Foreign Minister to Kuwait, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Peru's Foreign Minister, Elmer Schialer, visited Kuwait on April 29. During his visit, Minister Schialer conveyed a message from Peru's President, Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra, to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The message highlighted the historical friendship between Kuwait and Peru and emphasized ongoing efforts to strengthen these ties.
The message was received by His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah during a meeting with the Peruvian Foreign Minister. Kuwait's Foreign Minister, Abdullah Al-Yahya, also met with Minister Schialer to discuss regional and international issues, emphasizing the importance of achieving lasting peace in the Middle East.
Both nations expressed satisfaction with the progress in their bilateral relations and reiterated their readiness to advance existing agreements. The ministers pledged to work towards signing new agreements and memorandums of understanding in various fields, including economic, cultural, and educational sectors.
The discussions also focused on cooperation for sustainable development, particularly in addressing climate change impacts on agriculture and food security. The ministers agreed to continue negotiations related to investment and food security, demonstrating a shared commitment to sustainable progress.
Minister Schialer extended an invitation to Minister Al-Yahya to visit Peru, underscoring the importance of maintaining ongoing dialogue and furthering cooperative efforts between the two countries.
