New york: The Representative of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, has brought attention to the plight in the Gaza Strip and the suffering of the Palestinian people. This was highlighted during an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council on the situation in the Middle East, focusing on the Palestinian cause.
According to Kuwait News Agency, His Highness the Crown Prince emphasized the severe suffering faced by the Palestinian people, including a suffocating siege, widespread devastation, and the loss of over 60,000 lives, primarily women and children. He described the situation as genocide and ethnic cleansing, urging immediate action to address these issues.
His Highness expressed concern over the recent military escalation and condemned the Israeli attacks on Qatar, stressing that an attack on any GCC state is an attack on all GCC members. He reiterated the shared security and fate of the GCC states.
The Crown Prince stated that lasting justice in the region could only be achieved through a two-state solution based on international resolutions, including those of the Security Council and the Arab Peace Initiative. He called for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the 1967 borders.
He warned against policies that undermine this solution, such as settlement expansion and displacement. His Highness urged the international community, especially the Security Council, to prevent further violations and ensure accountability for perpetrators, as well as uphold the Palestinian people's right to self-determination.
The Amir's Representative praised countries recognizing the Palestinian state during a recent international conference on the peaceful settlement of the Palestine issue. He described this recognition as a courageous step in line with international law and justice.
The Crown Prince reaffirmed the GCC's solidarity with the Palestinian people, noting that these crimes threaten regional and international security. He called on the Security Council to take practical steps to stop Israeli aggression, ensure humanitarian aid access, protect civilians, and end the occupation.
His Highness concluded by thanking the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for requesting the emergency session.
