KUWAIT CITY: Official talks between Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were held at Bayan Palace, led by Kuwait’s Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, with the Emirati delegation headed by President Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al-Nahyan. The discussions, attended by high-ranking officials from both nations, focused on strengthening ties and addressing regional and international challenges.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Amir of Kuwait expressed his appreciation for the visit from the Emirati President, emphasizing the importance of the meeting as a means to reinforce the long-standing relationship between the two countries. He highlighted the cooperation within the Kuwaiti-Emirati joint committee and the broader Gulf bloc as vital avenues for advancing mutual interests.
The Amir of Kuwait acknowledged the alignment of Kuwait and the UAE’s positions on various regional and international issues. He stressed the need for diplomacy and
adherence to international charters in tackling these challenges, underscoring the significance of wisdom in international relations.
The Emirati President expressed his pleasure in visiting Kuwait and the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue with the Kuwaiti leadership. He praised the historical ties between the two nations, rooted in shared heritage and values, which have remained strong over the decades.
President Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al-Nahyan highlighted the importance of economic cooperation as the foundation for robust bilateral relations. He noted that non-oil trade between Kuwait and the UAE had exceeded USD 12 billion, underscoring the UAE’s status as Kuwait’s second-largest trade partner globally and regionally.
Addressing regional challenges, the Emirati President emphasized the role of Gulf cooperation in maintaining stability and security. He expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by the Kuwaiti leadership and wished for continued prosperity for Kuwait.
