Kuwait Agriculture Authority Organizes GCC Food Security Meeting

Kuwait City: Kuwait Public Authority for Agriculture and Fish Resources organized an extraordinary meeting of agencies concerned with agriculture and food security in GCC countries to discuss administrative, financial, and strategic aspects of Gulf food security. During the opening speech, the Authority's Director General, Salem Al-Hai, stated that this meeting is being held in light of accelerating challenges threatening food and water security globally and in the Gulf region in particular.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Hai emphasized the meeting's aim to identify a common path that mirrors the collective will to secure the future of GCC citizens by ensuring food security and achieving sustainable self-sufficiency through strategic visions and implementable projects. He mentioned that several topics will be addressed, including strengthening institutional and technical cooperation among member states, exchanging expertise in agriculture, production, and food processing fields, and accelerating the implementation of joint Gulf strategies.

The meeting will also focus on studying innovative solutions based on smart agriculture and modern technologies, identifying obstacles hindering food security, and developing collective mechanisms to address these challenges. The discussions are expected to foster collaboration and pave the way for more effective strategies to ensure the food security of GCC countries.
