Kuwait city: The 48th Kuwait International Book Fair featured a panel discussion focused on the influence of Kuwaiti media on culture, moderated by Fahad Al-Husseini. Experts on the panel included Dr. Ahmad Al-Haidar, Dr. Fawaz Al-Ajmi, and Dr. Hussain Ibrahim.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Dr. Al-Haidar underscored the historical development of Kuwaiti media, beginning with the launch of "Al-Kuwait Magazine" in 1928 and the start of radio broadcasting in 1951. He also discussed the establishment of the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters, which facilitated Kuwait's inaugural book fair in 1975. He emphasized that the media landscape in Kuwait experienced significant development during the 1940s and 50s, mirroring societal changes of the time.
Dr. Al-Ajmi focused on Kuwait's exercise of soft power through its culture and media, acknowledging the impact of the younger generation on social media and their accomplishments across different domains. He also highlighted efforts to preserve Kuwaiti heritage through a comprehensive electronic archive of television programming.
Dr. Ibrahim addressed the future trajectory of media in the context of artificial intelligence, noting the transition from traditional to innovative forms of media. He advocated for the ethical use of AI within the industry, recognizing its evolving nature.
The book fair, running from November 19 to Saturday, attracted numerous local and Arab publishing houses, showcasing the region's literary diversity and the ongoing dialogue about media's role in cultural development.
