Zhengzhou: A KUNA delegation on Thursday took part in the experts' forum held on the sidelines of the Media and Think Tank Summit of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which will kick-start Friday in Zhengzhou city, China. The event saw the participation of KUNA's Acting Director General Mohammad Al-Mannai alongside experts from Arab and Gulf media entities and the Ambassador of Kuwait to China, Jassem Al-Najem.
According to Kuwait News Agency, over 20 experts and researchers in the SCO participated in the forum's two sessions, exchanging views on cooperation and deepening ties among intellectual centers to achieve sustainable development amid significant global shifts. Xi Yanchun, Vice President of Xinhua News Agency, affirmed that the SCO is actively working with member states to boost media cooperation and expand the organization's media capabilities, especially in building bridges among nations.
Xi highlighted the challenges faced on the path to sustainable development within the framework of the SCO, pointing to global shifts affecting many of the organization's members. Dmitry Gornostaev, Deputy Editor-in-Chief and News Director of Rossiya Segodnya Group, stressed the importance of creating institutional platforms for cooperation in several sectors to enhance the role of media and intellectual centers, which would, in turn, develop the SCO.
Establishing a framework for regional sustainable creativity within the SCO would bolster cooperation significantly, Gornostaev affirmed, stating that such initiatives would promote fairness and mutual benefit while reducing media disinformation and other illicit content. The SCO's Media and Think Tank Summit is being held in preparation for the leaders' summit scheduled in Tianjin city from August 31 to September 1.
