Kuwait city: The Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society (KRCS) delegation on Saturday concluded its visit to Rohingya refugee camps in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh, as part of Kuwait's humanitarian efforts to support refugees worldwide. KRCS Deputy Chairman Dr. Nasser Al-Tanakh emphasized that the visit underscores Kuwait's commitment to aiding those in need.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the delegation toured the 'Adaptation and Resilience Building' project, which aims to provide 1,520 fully equipped shelters for refugee families. This initiative is funded by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, in partnership with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the Bangladesh Red Crescent.
Nearly one million Rohingya refugees live under challenging conditions, a situation that Dr. Al-Tanakh highlighted as requiring sustained international support. During their visit, the delegation also met with UNHCR officials and Bangladeshi authorities to discuss cooperation aimed at alleviating the refugees' plight.
Since 2017, KRCS has engaged in various projects across Bangladesh, focusing on food, shelter, health, water, education, and development, in collaboration with both local and international partners.
