KRCS airplane departs to Sudan to relieve floods victims

— Kuwait Red Crescent Society announced on Thursday a rescue airplane took off from Abduallah Al-Mubarak Air Base, carrying 40 tons of food and medical materials to the Sudanese people, affected by floods that afflicted the country lately.

This aid reflects Kuwait’s role in rescuing people affected by natural disasters worldwide.

The KRCS coordinated with Kuwait’s Embassy in Al-Khartoum, capital of Sudan and the Sudanese Red Recent Society (SRC) to distribute the relief supplies urgently and immediately, Head of the Public Relations Department at KRCS Khaled Al-Zaid told KUNA.

The floods that swamped many states around Sudan caused displacement of many residents and resulted in severe damage to properties and buildings, he added.

The current situation in Sudan requires urgent interference from international organizations and institutions, he affirmed.

He praised role of Kuwait’s foreign and defense ministries to facilitate this humanitarian initiative, calling on all active bodies in the civil society and private sector to offer immediate help to Sudan in encountering impact of the floods.
