Kuwait city: Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) launched on Tuesday the second edition of its Sidr tree planting initiative in the Ahmadi Oasis, owned by Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), reflecting the Kuwaiti oil sector's commitment to supporting environmental sustainability and expanding green spaces.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the event was attended by high-level officials, including KPC's Deputy Chairman and CEO Sheikh Nawaf Saud Al-Nasser Al-Sabah and Governor of Ahmadi Sheikh Humoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, along with CEOs and managing directors of KPC's subsidiaries.
KPC explained that the event coincided with the national spirit observed in Kuwait during the National Day celebrations, highlighting the oil sector's efforts to contribute across various fields, particularly the oil industry, which is making significant strides towards adopting environmentally friendly solutions and reducing carbon emissions.
The statement quoted Sheikh Nawaf Al-Sabah as encouraging the continued work towards achieving KPC's strategic goals in the field of sustainability, which include tree-planting initiatives, pointing to the important environmental role of the Sidr tree in stabilizing the soil, purifying the air, and resisting harsh climatic conditions.
For his part, KOC CEO Ahmed Al-Eidan, affirmed that the initiative reflects the company's commitment to achieving a balance between its operational processes and its environmental responsibilities, explaining that planting Sidr trees in the Ahmadi Oasis is part of the company's strategic plans to enhance sustainability.
He stated that this step represents an important addition to the sector's journey towards achieving net-zero energy neutrality by 2050, thus ensuring a better environment and a more sustainable future for generations to come.
