Kuwait city kuwait foundation for the advancement of sciences (kfas) announced a significant visit by a qatar foundation delegation led by dr. hilal al-ashwal:shwal, Advisor to the Chairperson for Research, Development and Innovation. The visit was aimed at strengthening strategic partnerships and exchanging expertise in scientific research, education, and innovation.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the three-day visit involved meetings with KFAS's executive leadership and heads of its affiliated centers. During these meetings, KFAS's strategy to drive sustainable development through investment in science, research, and innovation was reviewed. Discussions took place regarding a proposed regional agreement to enhance cooperation among research entities in Kuwait and Qatar, focusing on exchanging expertise and research plans in areas of mutual interest.
The visit also included field trips to several research and academic centers in Kuwait, such as the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Talent and Creativity, Abdullah Al-Salem University, The Scientific Center, Kuwait University, Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, Dasman Diabetes Institute, and Sadu House. KFAS emphasized that its collaboration with Qatar Foundation reflects a shared vision of investing in science and knowledge, setting the stage for a new phase of regional partnership.
The statement quoted Dr. Al-Ashwal as commending the progress observed in Kuwait's research and innovation ecosystem, asserting that the synergy between the two institutions will contribute to building a regional research network beneficial to the broader region.
The visit concluded with a coordination meeting where both parties agreed on preparing a joint work plan for the upcoming phase.
