KFA Secures French Super Cup Deal for 2026


Kuwait city: Kuwait Football Association (KFA) Chairman Sheikh Ahmad Al-Yusuf Al-Sabah has signed a contract with the Chairman of France’s Professional Football League (LFP), Arnaud Rouger, to host the French Super Cup between Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille on January 8, 2026. This agreement was formalized during a conference attended by French Ambassador to Kuwait Olivier Gauvin and Marc Biolley, head of Matchworld Football company, which will organize the event.



According to Kuwait News Agency, hosting the French Super Cup aligns with the directives of Kuwait’s political leadership aimed at organizing major sports events. Sheikh Ahmad Al-Yusuf highlighted that a delegation from the LFP visited Kuwait to review the preparations and expressed satisfaction with the facilities at Jaber Al-Ahmad Stadium, as well as Jaber Al-Mubarak and Ali Sabah Al-Salem stadiums.



The match is regarded as globally significant, featuring Paris Saint-Germain, holders of the French League and UEFA Champions League titles, against Marseille. Sheikh Ahmad Al-Yusuf mentioned that details regarding ticket purchasing mechanisms and outlets will be disclosed soon. To attract a global audience, the KFA has partnered with Kuwait Airways to offer special deals to fans worldwide.



Rouger praised the KFA for submitting the best offer to host the match and confirmed that the French Football Federation will appoint referees due to the match’s importance.
