Kuwait City: Today, we reflect on significant milestones in Kuwait's history that have contributed to its development and progress across various sectors.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the journey begins in 1931 with the passing of Judge Abdullah Al-Dhayyan at the age of 57. Renowned for his role as chief justice in 1930, Al-Dhayyan was also an Imam and a lecturer, remembered as an intellectual and scientific pioneer. A year later, in 1932, Kuwait witnessed another landmark event when Amir Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah issued the municipal law, marking a step forward in Kuwait's governance.
Fast forward to 1978, when Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah decreed the formation of the 10th government, led by Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, indicating a new phase in political leadership. In 1986, the Kuwait National Museum became home to a sky dome section, featuring historical space exploration devices, maps, and manuscripts, highlighting Kuwait's interest in scientific endeavors.
Further advancements were seen in 1997 with the Kuwait Investment Company establishing a stock prices index at the bourse. This index uniquely included all the listed companies, totaling 60, showcasing a comprehensive approach to tracking market dynamics.
In 2002, the Kuwait Public Transport Company launched the Ras Al-Ard harbors, capable of accommodating over 190 boats, reflecting an expansion in maritime infrastructure. The focus on environmental sustainability was evident in 2016 with the inauguration of the first unit of environmental fuel at the Al-Ahmadi refinery by the Kuwait National Petroleum Company.
The year 2020 marked significant strides in health services, with the Kuwait Central Blood Bank receiving accreditation from the American Association of Blood Banks. Additionally, a cooperative blood transfusion center opened in Al-Ahmadi health district, spanning 14,000 square meters at a cost of KD seven million, enhancing the nation's healthcare capabilities.
