On this day in 1961, Kuwait Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah signed a landmark decree that established the framework for electing members of the constituent assembly, the first legislative body in the country. The decree delineated the nation into 10 electoral regions, each responsible for electing two members of parliament, all of whom were required to be aged no less than 30.
According to Kuwait News Agency, significant developments continued in 1976 when Kuwait Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah enacted an Amiri Decree forming the ninth cabinet, which included 18 ministers under the leadership of Crown Prince Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
