Abdulaziz Hussein was appointed as Kuwait's Ambassador to the United Arab Republic, with his credentials presented to Egyptian President Jamal Abdulnasser in Cairo on December 20. In the same year, Abdulrahman Al-Atiqi was named Kuwait's Ambassador to the United States of America, strengthening international relations. In 1979, Kuwait Television Channel 2 commenced broadcasting for four hours daily, initially offering programs in both Arabic and English. In a notable industrial development, 1997 saw EQUATE Petrochemical Company export its first shipment of ethylene glycol to Europe, marking Kuwait's expanding role in global petrochemical markets. Further consolidating Kuwait's influence in sports, the Asian Shooting Federation's general assembly in 2007 elected Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud Al-Sabah as chairperson for a second consecutive term, highlighting his unchallenged leadership within the union.
