Jordan Welcomes Gaza Ceasefire Agreement

Jordan: Jordan welcomed on Thursday the ceasefire agreement reached in the Gaza Strip and the execution of the first phase of the deal, leading to the withdrawal of Israeli occupation troops and the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi welcomed in a statement the efforts by Egypt, Qatar, Turkiye, and the US to reach the deal. He praised US President Donald Trump for his decisive role in achieving the agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip, supporting reconstruction efforts, and advocating for sustainable peace in the region through actions such as opposing Israeli occupation attempts to annex the West Bank.

Safadi emphasized the importance for all parties to adhere to the deal to end the war and address the consequences of the aggression. He highlighted the need to support efforts to allow humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, affirming that Jordan would fulfill its humanitarian role to deliver assistance in coordination with the international community and the UN.

He also confirmed that Jordan would continue to work towards achieving sustainable and comprehensive peace in the region by ending the occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with the Arab Peace Initiative and international legitimacy.
