Jordan Reaffirms Support for Kuwait’s Sovereignty Over Territory and Maritime Areas

Amman: The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates reaffirmed the Kingdom's firm position in support of Kuwait's sovereignty over all its territories and maritime areas, as well as its unity and territorial integrity.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the ministry's official spokesperson, Ambassador Sufian Al-Qudah, stated in a press release that the ministry is closely monitoring the repercussions of Iraq's submission to the UN of lists of geographical coordinates and a map concerning the maritime areas between Iraq and Kuwait.

Al-Qudah emphasized the necessity of respecting international law and adhering to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, alongside the relevant agreements signed between Kuwait and Iraq. He highlighted the importance of prioritizing dialogue and resolving any disputes in accordance with international law, the respect for state sovereignty, and the principles of good neighborliness. This approach, he noted, would strengthen the fraternal relations between the two nations, preserve their mutual interests, and contribute to security and stability in the region.
