Manama, The executive and legislative authorities held a meeting of the joint executive-legislature committee on restructuring government subsidies.
The meeting was co-chaired by Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, the Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, the Chairman of the Shura Coucil and Ghanim bin Fadl Al Buainain, Minister of Shura and Representatives Councils’ Affairs.
The meeting was attended by ministers, committee members, and officials.
The Speaker affirmed the joint keenness on constructive cooperation and fulfilling the aspirations of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa with the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The Speaker noted that the joint agreements reached during the meeting on the restructuring of subsidies will accelerate the pace of achievement in the coming period; with details, mechanisms, standards, and requirements to be announced in accordance with standard procedures.
Chairman Al Saleh expressed appreciation for the legislative authority's efforts in holding discussions with the executive authority to reach consensus that serves national interests, in line with the royal directives.
The Chairman also commended the keenness of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister on supporting coordination and joint work between the legislative and executive authorities.
The Chairman said the ongoing discussions between the two authorities on optimal management of financial resources and support for deserving groups reflects national interest in enhancing the livelihood stability of Bahraini families.
He praised the government's commitment to setting budgets that align with the government subsidy programmes and ensuring support is disbursed according to agreed procedures.
Ghanim bin Fadl Al Buainain, Minister of Shura and Representatives Councils' Affairs, emphasised the importance of increasing the efficiency and fairness of government support, in line with laws and regulations.
He noted the joint concern of executive and legislative authorities on ensuring that support reaches citizens who are entitled beneficiaries to meet their needs and enhance their standards of living, as part of efforts to ensure the sustainability of government subsidies.
