Tokyo: Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and US President Donald Trump on Tuesday reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close cooperation amid the prevailing international environment, as reported by Japan's Foreign Ministry.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Takaichi and Trump engaged in a 25-minute phone conversation, where they discussed enhancing the Japan-US alliance and addressed challenges in the Indo-Pacific region. Trump provided Takaichi with updates on US-China relations, following his recent summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Takaichi expressed her gratitude for the US' ongoing efforts to promote peace in Ukraine. Additionally, she briefed Trump on the outcomes of the recent Group of 20 (G-20) summit held in South Africa, in response to his inquiry.
