Japan, US, South Korea Condemn North Korea’s Missile Launches

Tokyo: Senior diplomats from Japan, the United States, and South Korea have voiced strong opposition to North Korea's recent ballistic missile launches, as reported by the Japanese Foreign Ministry. The condemnation came after a telephone consultation involving Akihiro Okochi, Deputy Director-General of the Japanese Foreign Ministry's Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau, Seth Bailey, US Deputy Special Representative for the Korean and Mongolian Affairs, and Kim Heun Jin, Director for the South Korean Foreign Ministry's Korean Peninsula Policy.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the North Korean missile launches were deemed a violation of UN Security Council resolutions. The diplomats expressed concern over the threat these actions pose to regional and international peace and security. The officials also emphasized the importance of continued coordination among their nations to address the challenges posed by North Korea.

The South Korean Defense Ministry reported that North Korea launched multiple short-range ballistic missiles from Wonsan, a city on the North's eastern coast, towards the East Sea (Sea of Japan). The launches occurred between 8:10 a.m. and 9:20 a.m. local time, with the missiles traveling up to 800 kilometers before landing in the sea, according to the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
