Japan, US Reaffirm Diplomatic Efforts for Middle East Peace

The Hague: Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio have emphasized the need for continued diplomatic efforts to secure peace and stability in the Middle East, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining close communication, as stated by Japan's Foreign Ministry.

According to Kuwait News Agency, during discussions held on the sidelines of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit in The Hague, Iwaya expressed Japan's support for the ceasefire between Israel and Iran, highlighting its significance and the importance of its full implementation. The talks also included an agreement to back consultations between the ministers responsible for US tariff measures, aiming to reach a mutually beneficial agreement for both nations.

Iwaya is participating in the NATO summit in the Netherlands on behalf of Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. In a separate dialogue with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, the ministers committed to enhancing bilateral cooperation across various fields, including security and economic security, with discussions on deploying German forces' assets to the Indo-Pacific region.

The Japanese Foreign Minister acknowledged Germany's efforts to strengthen its engagement in the Indo-Pacific and expressed the hope for deeper cooperation in security matters. Wadephul reciprocated with an interest in exploring diverse themes to further deepen the Japan-Germany cooperative relationship.

Additionally, both ministers confirmed their intention to continue working closely on international issues, including the situations in the Middle East, Ukraine, and the Indo-Pacific region.
