Tokyo: Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya on Tuesday expressed approval for the release of hostages and the establishment of a cease-fire agreement between Hamas and Israel. He emphasized that these developments are crucial steps toward enhancing the humanitarian situation in Gaza and advancing towards a two-state solution. Iwaya stated at a press conference that Japan "wholeheartedly welcomes the release of 20 surviving hostages, the achievement of a cease-fire, and the resumption of humanitarian assistance to Gaza."
According to Kuwait News Agency, the minister highlighted the signing ceremony held in Egypt on Monday as a significant demonstration of the international community's determination to collaborate for sustainable peace and reconstruction. He commended the leadership of US President Donald Trump and acknowledged the diplomatic efforts of countries like Egypt, Qatar, and Turkiye.
Iwaya further mentioned Japan's commitment to working closely with relevant countries and international organizations to ensure the effective implementation of the comprehensive plan. He noted that Tokyo will also play an active role in providing humanitarian aid, early recovery, and reconstruction efforts in Gaza. Additionally, he reaffirmed Japan's dedication to advancing a two-state solution.
