Japan Embassy Announces Scholarship for Kuwaiti Students at Japanese Universities

Kuwait City: The Japanese embassy in Kuwait announced on Monday the launch of its government scholarship (MEXT 2026 for Research Students and Undergraduate Students), which allows Kuwaitis to study at Japanese Universities.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the government of Japan was offering a scholarship for Kuwaiti students who wish to study or conduct research at Japanese Universities, with registration starting from Thursday, May 1, 2025.

The embassy detailed the qualifications and eligibilities, stating that Kuwaiti applicants must be born on or after April 2, 1991, for research students, and April 2, 2001, for undergraduate students. Research student applicants must have completed 16 years of school education, while undergraduate student applicants must have completed a 12-year school curriculum and have good academic standing. Applicants are also required to have a good command of English and be willing to learn the Japanese language.

All necessary information and application forms are available online through the embassy's official website. The embassy noted that applications must be submitted by hand to the Japanese Embassy. Following the submission, the embassy will conduct document screening, a written exam in English and Japanese, and a personal interview to select the scholarship recipients.

The deadline for submitting applications is set for Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 03:00 P.M., local time in Kuwait. The Japanese Government Scholarship, established in 1954, aims to increase mutual understanding between the people of Japan and other countries and contributes to the international intellectual field.
