Tokyo: Japan has expressed strong condemnation of an Israeli strike targeting Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar, stating that the action jeopardizes diplomatic efforts towards a ceasefire in Gaza and threatens regional stability in the Middle East.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi emphasized the urgency of achieving a ceasefire and securing the release of hostages in Gaza. He highlighted the detrimental impact of the Israeli attack on ongoing diplomatic efforts by countries involved, including Qatar. Hayashi underscored that the strike endangers Qatar's sovereignty and security, as well as the broader stability of the region.
In his statement, Hayashi called for Israel to immediately return to negotiations and engage earnestly in efforts to establish a ceasefire and facilitate the release of hostages. He reiterated Japan's commitment to supporting Qatar and stressed the significance of peace and stability in the Middle East as a key element of Tokyo's foreign policy.
