Israeli Occupation to Reopen Rafah Crossing for Limited Movement

Rafah: The Israeli occupation plans to reopen the Rafah border crossing on Sunday in a "limited way" after nearly two years of closure. The Israeli occupation army announced in a press release that the crossing, which connects Gaza with Egypt, will be opened to allow a "limited movement of people."

According to Kuwait News Agency, the movement of residents through the Rafah crossing will occur with Egyptian coordination and under the supervision of the European Union delegation, following a mechanism similar to one activated in January 2025. The reopening will enable the return of residents from Egypt to Gaza, coordinated with Cairo, but only for those who left the Strip during the war and have received prior security approval from the Israeli occupation.

The reopening of the crossing is part of the second phase of a United States-brokered ceasefire deal designed to halt the Gaza war. This development is seen as a step towards easing the restrictions on the movement of people in the region.
