Al-karameh: The Israeli occupation will close the Al-Karameh crossing, the only land route between the West Bank and Jordan, starting Wednesday and until further notice, the Palestinian General Authority for Borders and Crossings said. Israeli occupation political leaders have ordered the crossing shut to all forms of transportation without citing a reason for the move. The only gateway linking the Israeli-occupied West Bank and Jordan has remained largely inactive following a shooting incident that killed two Israeli soldiers there.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the move is considered a reaction to the increasing number of Western nations formally recognizing an independent Palestinian state. However, Israeli media reported that there was no official statement from top officials on the reason behind the closure.
The Al-Karameh crossing serves as the sole land route for the transport of commercial goods between Jordan and the West Bank.
