Gaza: Several Palestinians, including a journalist, were killed and others injured as Israeli occupation forces launched intense attacks on the al-Sabra neighborhood in southeastern Gaza on Monday.
According to Kuwait News Agency, eyewitnesses reported that the occupation forces' artillery shelled the eastern and southern areas of al-Sabra neighborhood, as well as parts of the al-Zeitoun neighborhood, causing damage to several homes and inciting panic among residents.
In a statement to KUNA, Minister of Social Affairs and Family and Childhood Affairs Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah highlighted the significance of World Humanitarian Day as an occasion to honor the efforts of humanitarian workers worldwide. She affirmed Kuwait's ongoing commitment to humanitarian fields through its official institutions, charitable societies, and endowments, with the Kuwait Red Crescent Society exemplifying the country's spirit of giving in disaster and crisis areas.
Al-Huwailah emphasized the importance of this day in recognizing the contributions of Kuwaiti humanitarian workers who have tirelessly aided those in need under challenging conditions. She noted Kuwait's steadfast humanitarian responsibility and its role in promoting international solidarity, further evidenced by the Kuwaiti people's consistent donations in response to global disasters and humanitarian crises.
The minister addressed the growing challenges faced by humanitarian work, including difficulties in accessing affected areas and security risks for field workers, advocating for stronger international protection and the unobstructed delivery of aid. She stated that Kuwait continues to strengthen its partnerships with the United Nations and international organizations to ensure timely assistance reaches those in need.
Al-Huwailah concluded by underscoring that humanitarian work is a core element of Kuwait's policy and not merely a temporary response, serving as a tribute to those who have sacrificed for humanity and as recognition of those working diligently to save lives. Meanwhile, thousands of victims remain trapped under rubble and in the streets, with ambulance and rescue crews unable to reach them.
