Jenin: The Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners' Club announced on Monday the death of Palestinian detainee Louay Nasrallah, 22, in Israeli occupation custody.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Palestinian Civil Affairs Authority informed them that Nasrallah, from Jenin, died this morning at Israel's Soroka Hospital after being transferred from the Negev desert prison. The statement did not provide further details on the circumstances of his death.
Nasrallah had been held under administrative detention since March 2024, without formal charges. His death adds to the rising toll of Palestinian detainees who have died in Israeli prisons. Rights groups describe these detainees as victims of systematic abuses and "organized crimes." The Negev prison, where Nasrallah was held, is reportedly notorious for the spread of scabies. The statement claims this has become a tool of slow killing. Nasrallah's family noted that he had no prior health issues before his arrest.
Nasrallah's death raises the number of Palestinian detainees who have died since October 7, 2023, to 73. Organizations hold Israel fully responsible and are calling on international bodies to take urgent action.
