Beirut: Five people were wounded in an Israeli occupation attack on Kafr Kala Village in southern Lebanon early Sunday, according to local media reports. The attack occurred after individuals crossed a barricade erected by Israeli occupying forces as they attempted to return to their homes in the border area, Lebanon's state-owned news agency reported.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Israeli occupying forces remain stationed in the border area even after the deadline for their withdrawal from southern Lebanon has passed. The Lebanese army had previously advised residents not to rush to the southern border areas as the 60-day deadline concluded on Sunday.
The Israeli occupation announced on Friday that its forces would stay beyond the Sunday deadline set by a U.S.-brokered ceasefire, which ended last year's conflict in Lebanon. The agreement stipulated that Israeli occupying forces should withdraw from southern Lebanon as Hezbollah's weapons and fighters were removed from the area, and the Lebanese army deployed, within a 60-day timeframe, concluding on Sunday morning.
