Iraq Unveils 18 Initiatives, Commits USD 40 Million to Gaza and Lebanon Reconstruction

Baghdad: Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Al-Sudani presented 18 initiatives at the Arab Summit hosted by Baghdad, aiming to enhance Arab cooperation and announcing a USD 40 million donation for the reconstruction of Gaza and Lebanon.

According to Kuwait News Agency, in his speech during the 34th Arab Summit in Baghdad, Al-Sudani stated that these initiatives are designed to stimulate joint Arab action. One of the key proposals is the establishment of an Arab Fund to support recovery and reconstruction efforts in the aftermath of crises, conflicts, and wars. As part of Iraq's commitment, Al-Sudani announced a USD 20 million contribution each for the reconstruction of Gaza and Lebanon.

Al-Sudani reiterated Iraq's support for ending regional conflicts and emphasized the Palestinian people's right to a free and dignified life on their land. He opposed the forced displacement of Palestinians and called for the facilitation of humanitarian aid delivery, while urging an end to the violence in Gaza and the West Bank.

Additionally, the Iraqi Prime Minister called for support for the ceasefire in southern Lebanon and condemned attacks on civilians. He reaffirmed Iraq's unwavering support for Syria's territorial unity and sovereignty and denounced any aggression against Syrian territory.

Al-Sudani also commended the United States for lifting sanctions on Syria, expressing hope that this move would help ease the suffering of the Syrian people. Furthermore, he welcomed the ongoing US-Iranian negotiations, advocating for a vision rooted in peace, coexistence, and productive communication.
