Baghdad -The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Multilateral and Legal Affairs, Omar Al-Barzanji, met with the Chinese Ambassador to Iraq, Cui Wei, in his office in the Ministry building, today, Wednesday.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement: “During the meeting, they reviewed the course of historical relations between Iraq and China, and the mutual support between the two countries in opening the Chinese consulate in Basra and the Iraqi consulate in the Chinese city of Guangzhou.”
The two sides discussed issues related to international nominations, and reviewed the positions of the two countries on the Palestinian issue.
The Chinese ambassador explained "the efforts made by his government in international forums, especially in the Security Council, regarding voting on a draft resolution regarding the Palestinian issue," indicating: "China has been calling, since the outbreak of the crisis, for a ceasefire and the rapid delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, in addition to its refusal for the severe harm to defenseless civilians."
For his part, the Undersecretary welcomed the Chinese ambassador and "expressed his thanks and appreciation for the efforts made by China in supporting Arab issues, especially the Palestinian issue, and its continuous coordination with Arab countries to issue a just decision in favor of the Palestinians ."
He thanked the Chinese side for continuing to provide assistance to the Iraqi consulate in the Chinese city of Guangzhou, which was opened recently.
