Kuwait city: Iraq has accelerated the repatriation of over 25,000 of its citizens from the camps housing families of the Islamic State (ISIS) group in Syria.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that Iraq increased the number of its citizens returned from the Syrian al-Hol and al-Roj camps by 165 percent compared to the previous year. This move is seen as a demonstration of Iraq's commitment to the sustained defeat of ISIS.
CENTCOM highlighted that the accelerated repatriation efforts have enabled 80 percent of the Iraqi population at the al-Hol camp to return home. The statement emphasized that these milestones underscore Iraq's pivotal role in partnering with CENTCOM and the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, thereby advancing regional security and stability.
