Iran’s Guardian Council Approves Bill on Suspending Cooperation with IAEA

Tehran: Iran's Guardian Council approved a parliamentary bill on Thursday obligating the Iranian government to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Guardian Council spokesperson Hadi Tahan conveyed through the official Iranian news agency (IRNA) that Tehran is halting its collaboration with the agency until assurances are made regarding the safety of its nuclear facilities and scientists.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the Iranian Parliament had initially passed the bill on Wednesday, mandating the government to halt its cooperation with the IAEA. This legislative move follows recent military actions involving Iran's nuclear sites. The Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear facilities experienced airstrikes by the United States on June 22, subsequent to previous incidents involving Israel.

Moreover, Iran's capital, Tehran, along with other cities, have been targets of significant attacks by Israeli forces since June 13. In response, Iran launched missile attacks on territories under occupation. The tensions saw a temporary resolution with a ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israeli occupation forces, which was implemented on June 24 after an announcement by US President Donald Trump.
