Tehran: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian issued a presidential decree on Tuesday appointing Ali Larijani, senior advisor of Iran's Supreme Leader, as Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Iranian Presidency website announced that Larijani will succeed the previous Secretary of the National Security Council, Ali Akbar Ahmadian, who held the position since 2023.
Larijani served as Speaker of the Parliament for three consecutive terms between 2008 and 2020, and before that, he also served as Secretary of the National Security Council between 2005 and 2007.
