Muscat: Iranian FM Abbas Araghchi declared on Sunday that Iran's uranium enrichment within its borders remains a "non-negotiable right," emphasizing the nation's firm stance on the matter.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Araghchi made the statement while addressing the press before departing for Muscat, where the fourth round of Iranian-US nuclear negotiations was scheduled to take place on Sunday. He reiterated that Iran's nuclear program is intended for peaceful purposes and is under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Araghchi also criticized the United States for what he described as a "conflicting" stance in the negotiations, citing it as a significant impediment to progress. This comes in response to remarks from US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, who urged Tehran to dismantle its uranium enrichment facilities and refrain from acquiring uranium centrifuges.
Witkoff, speaking to Breitbart news network, warned that if the negotiations did not achieve their objectives, the US would pursue an alternative course of action.
