Tehran: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that cooperation between Tehran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is taking a new course due to recent developments but has not ceased. Under a new law passed by the Iranian parliament, Iran's Supreme National Security Council is mandated to cooperate with the UN nuclear watchdog, he mentioned during a meeting with heads of diplomatic missions in Tehran.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Council will respond to any demands from the Agency regarding nuclear inspections in Iran with due consideration to security issues and safety rules. On the recent air attacks on Iranian nuclear sites, Araghchi cautioned against approaching those sites.
Reaffirming Tehran's commitment to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and nuclear safeguards, the minister emphasized that Iran's nuclear program has been, and will remain, peaceful. He expressed Iran's readiness to resume nuclear talks, provided that the US and other countries refrain from launching wars against it.
Araghchi indicated that the Israeli occupation forces initiated the conflict against Iran on June 13, with the United States joining them. He stressed that for talks to resume, such actions should not be repeated. He also urged respect for the Iranian nation's right to peaceful nuclear energy, including uranium enrichment, and ruled out the possibility of reaching any agreement that does not guarantee this right.
