West java: An Indonesian fighter jet crashed near a cemetery during a routine training mission in West Java province, resulting in the death of Air Commodore Fajar Adriyanto, the air force reported on Sunday.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the aircraft departed from Atang Sendjaja Airfield in Bogor at 9:08 am local time. It was later discovered crashed near the Astana cemetery, as confirmed by Air Commodore Nyoman Suadnyana, chief of the air force information office, in a statement.
The flight was part of a regular "flight proficiency training" organized for air force personnel. Suadnyana stated that the aircraft had been declared safe and all necessary administrative procedures for the flight were "fulfilled," as reported by the state-owned ANTARA news agency.
The air force expressed "utmost" condolences to the family of the late Air Commodore, recognizing him as an inspirational and exemplary leader.
