Indian Space Research Organization Fails to Place Earth Observation Satellite in Orbit

Sriharikota: The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) failed on Sunday to place an earth observation satellite in orbit. ISRO Chairman V Narayanan confirmed the failure of the four-stage Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C61) to position the EOS-09 Earth observation satellite into the intended orbit following its take-off.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the PSLV-C61 launch was the 101st mission attempted by ISRO. The launch vehicle’s performance was reported to be normal up until the second stage. However, an issue detected during the third stage prevented the mission from achieving its objective. ISRO communicated this development through its official X account, stating, “Today 101st launch was attempted, PSLV-C61 performance was normal till second stage. Due to an observation in third stage, the mission could not be accomplished.”

The PSLV-C61 was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre located in Sriharikota, in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, at 6:00 am local time.
