New Delhi: The Indian government on Saturday prohibited the import of all goods originating in or exported to Pakistan. The Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry stated that the Directorate General of Foreign Trade under its jurisdiction has issued a notification to this effect. This move will prevent the import of goods from Pakistan directly or through any other trade route.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the notification specifies that the "direct or indirect import or transit of all goods originating in or exported from Pakistan, whether or not freely importable or otherwise permitted, shall be prohibited with immediate effect, until further orders." The restriction aims to address concerns related to national security and public policy.
This decision is part of a series of actions India has taken against Pakistan following a significant militant attack on April 22. The incident targeted tourists in Pahalgam city in Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the deaths of 26 individuals.
